About the Campaign
We’ve had the pleasure of being proud parents at De La Salle for ten years. As Campaign Chairs, we are asking fellow parents, graduates, and friends of De La Salle to join us in raising $6.5 million for a world-class chapel and a multi-purpose Lasallian Student Center, which will provide a place where our student athletes and Band members can train and play, and where we can showcase our Hall of Honors honorees.

Our LeadOn! campaign requires the support of everyone who value places of great spirit and the heritage that inspires them—the vibrant New Orleans mission of the founding Christian Brothers. Please prayerfully consider becoming part of the LeadOn! campaign, and accept our thanks on behalf of the students who carry on our unique legacy.

THE HEROIC VOW. In 1691, on the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lady, Saint John Baptist de La Salle, with Brothers Nicolas Vuyart and Gabriel Drolin, vows to establish the Society of Christian Brothers "no matter what it might cost them."

Charlie Childress ('63) remembers how he and fellow seniors carried bricks for the masons who built De La Salle's modest, 30-seat chapel during his senior year. Today we envision a Chapel, prominently located on Saint Charles Avenue, which will:

»  give students and graduates a special place to worship, baptize our children, marry, memorialize our loved ones, and stay connected with what Father H.L. Brignac ('53), a member of our first graduating class, calls our “beautiful heritage”

»  renew what Earl Bothe '58 describes as the spirit of “Catholic togetherness” that unites families in worship

»  serve as a sacred destination for Catholic pilgrims worldwide, who can nourish their spiritual life while visiting New Orleans on personal or service trips

The Blessed Sacrament, present at all times the Adoration Chapel is open, will foster the awareness of the presence of God that distinguishes Lasallian spirituality. Our new spiritual home will also serve as the Chapel to Saint John Baptist de La Salle, honoring the influential educator singled out by the Roman Catholic Church as the Patron Saint of Teachers. “The Chapel,” says John Arthurs ('65), “will inspire a creative expansion of our mission, heritage, and presence in New Orleans.”
